Joan Pranata Bogart is an artist drawing inspiration from nature and culture. Botanical and ocean prints carved from linoleum blocks are inspired by the motif of Indonesian Batik, an intricate hand designed textile made from wax resist dyeing. Following a BA in Art Practice from UC Berkeley, she worked in online advertising at Google for over a decade, and she illustrated on the side. Her early career illustrations mostly consisted of classical botanical pencil renderings for La Tourangelle gourmet oil labels.
