Ayu Halim

Ayu Halim, b. 1995 Jakarta, is an artist exploring archived histories, materials, ritual, and forms of storytelling through sculpture, installation, and performance. Halim is interested in linking intrinsically architectural concepts within ancient Indonesian lore and storytelling practices to the physical materials and rituals of the built world. Through reinterpretations and displays of theological and social practices, her work examines the way in which the structures of convention dictate categories of reality. She was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
